About The School
Alongside its longstanding reputation for academic excellence, Godolphin and Latymer atriumphs in delivering outstanding exam results. They offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, and the girls are given a chance to pursue non-academic interests outside of the classroom. The school works around the clock to develop the girls’ creativity, confidence, and ensures they have plenty of opportunities to shine.
How to Apply for 11 plus Entry to Godolphin and Latymer School
As a member of the London Consortium, Godolphin and Latymer follows its Agreed Code of Practice. Girls are admitted in Year 7, with a few exceptions if places become available. Admissions are determined by an entrance test, which takes place in January of the year of entry. After the exam, the pupils go through an interview stage, where they must also provide references from their current school. The school might also take into account other relevant factors or circumstances.
According to the London Consortium’s policy, the school must offer places based on the student’s performance in the cognitive test, as well as the interview and the references. This means that the entry is not determined by the exam alone. Admission is also not guaranteed through siblings, according to their admissions policy.
Before thinking of sending their child to Godolphin and Latymer, parents should be certain it’s a good environment for their child. The school holds open events in September and October that are free for everyone. Attending one of these events is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the school, their ethos, and admission process. There’s no need to book a place, just show up.
Godolphin and Latymer School Year 7 Entry (The11+ Assessment)
During the admissions process, your must successfully take The London Consortium’s own bespoke Cognitive Abilities Test, created for them by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM). This test assesses Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Verbal Reasoning includes question types that would usually be found in an English test.
During the 75 minute test, including a 30 minute break, students will be required to mark their answers on a separate answer sheet. Some of the questions might be multiple-choice. CEM tests generally consist of shorter time sections, each one focusing on a specific question type. For example, 5-minute Verbal Reasoning comprehension section could be followed by a 10-minute Maths section, followed by a 6-minute Verbal Reasoning cloze section. This test is the only written assessment. This new cognitive test was put in place to identify each student’s potential, rather than their ability to remember facts for a specific exam. Students can take the test at any school in the Consortium and parents will receive test results in February.
